Lauren Hales Coaching is a holistic approach to improve mental health and physical wellbeing taking into consideration; nutrition, lifestyle and environment.
On this site you can find out about me and my packages in addition to this lifestyle blog that follows my attempt to live a simpler, healthier and happier life free from societal expectations and restrictions.
From my personal research, experience and observation I believed that the root causes of mental illness were being paid no attention.
I qualified as a Mental Health Practitioner in 2013. I found that through my many years of placements and during the course I found I was feeling less hopeful about what I was trying to achieve.
Through various placements and a year of post grad working I felt frustrated and disappointed. I did not feel that I was making much of a difference, neither did I feel I could eventually make any difference if I carried on down this path.
I felt that there was a need for alternatives other than pills or ward admissions in this western society. From my personal research, experience and observation I believed that the root causes of mental illness were being paid no attention.
As well as political and social issues in the western world I couldn’t help noticing how poor our general diet and approach to nutrition was. Food and fitness was always something I had a personal interest in so I observed the impact a variety of diets and lifestyles had on my own lifestyle as well as friends, family and service users. There is a lot of research supporting the impact nutrition has on mental health. After further independent research and observation I decided to embark on a Nutritional Therapist course with a particular interest in mental health and overall wellbeing. Other wise known as the holistic approach. In addition to this I studied and registered as a Life Coach. With my partner, we set up our own sustainable seafood business called Jurassic Coast Seafood where we recreate dishes discovered on our travels using local and sustainable seafood.
